I mentioned the Acoustic Les Paul which I built before Sam pointed the way towards this fine place
and SOME of you seemed not to understand the concept.......
Yes it IS (vaguely) Les Paul shaped.
Yes it IS acoustic!!!!
The body is a clamshell made of a 40 yearlod mahogany bench from a school science room and a big old plank of beech
the neck is a mahogany sycamore lam tenoned in with epoxy (scarfed headstock)
The soundhole is a series of slots cut at 90 degrees to eachother 2/3 of the thickness of the top....
giving the lattice effect.....
SOME of the carving is of a decent quality!!!
(some isn't but I wont show that!!!)
Theres a piezo under the saddle which runs to this badly fitted preamp. I carved this top edge round after I'd been playing it for a month. Strumming over that sharp edge hurt a bit!!
And the headstock. Yes, I know the tuners are too close, too high, but I drilled the holes before I finished the back of the neck. (I'm learning here folks, learning!!)
the Celtic cross TRC is because I'm in Ireland and I'm a Christian.
It was my second build, and my first acoustic instrument.
The REASON for it was, Playing in church, I stand to the left of my lovely Mrs who sings. We share song sheets so we have to stand that way. My Turner acoustic is REALLY loud and she was being desfened by it. I needed a quiet acoustic that could be amped through the PA.
This was the result.
Now that I've learned a LOT from here & other places, I'd maybe do some things differently, and I'd definitely spend more time on the finishing off & tidying up,
BUT I LIKE IT, SO THERE!!!!
